Gwendolyn founded Breathe YOU Matter to give the peer support and recovery community a publication of its own — one built with the same editorial care as any national magazine, but shaped entirely by the people it serves.
Her path here runs through more than two decades of community work: pastoral ministry, career services, and outreach throughout California, all built on one guiding belief — each one, reach one. Together we can save lives.

Our Story
Why this magazine exists
Breathe YOU Matter started with a simple observation: the people doing the most powerful work in peer support and recovery rarely had a place of their own to tell their stories. Not a clinical newsletter, not a brochure — a real magazine, built with the same care and craft as anything on a newsstand, but rooted entirely in community.
It grew out of years spent inside that community — running peer programs, coordinating outreach, and watching how much healing happens when someone simply feels seen. Breathe YOU Matter was created to hold that feeling on the page: to give peer supporters, families, and organizations across California a publication that reflects their work back to them with dignity, in both English and Spanish.

Our Original Team Lives in Northern California, Central California, and Southern California. Our goal is to expand resources, share more stories, and save as many lives as we can.
